Is Robert Fisk suffering from the Bernard Lewis syndrome?
Opinion - Opinion
Sunday, 13 December 2009
Yassine ChannoufTwice I met him, and as many times he delighted me. I can credit Robert Fisk with getting me interested in Lebanon. I have always read his books and articles passionately, and those who know me grew weary of my continuous references to him. But no more. The Fisk I admired is no longer the Fisk that the world knows today. His last article in which he equates Hezbollah, the Lebanese Resistance, with a bunch of anti-Semites is the figurative drop.

Wadi Araba Treaty: No cause for celebration
Opinion - Opinion
Thursday, 22 October 2009

Ibrahim AlloushFifteen years after the signing of the Wadi Araba Treaty, more and more Jordanians have come to harbor doubts about the rationale and political utility of that deal. In fact, it is much harder nowadays to find Jordanian politicians and journalists, not to mention ordinary citizens, who are willing to openly defend or embrace Wadi Araba. This is especially true in light of the escalating extremism and hardening positions of “Israelis”, from the top echelons of the political pyramid to the lowest recesses of the electoral base.

Actuality - Actuality
Friday, 21 August 2009

kvdb.jpgOn Tuesday the public prosecutor’s office ruled that AEL was liable to prosecution for publishing the cartoon, but no charges would be brought if the campaign group permanently removed the image from its website. Initially AEL appeared to have complied with this demand.
However, at the same time the public prosecutor’s office also ruled that there was nothing illegal about the publication of the controversial Danish cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammad on the website of anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders in 2006. Likewise, it decided that the TV programme Nova, which also showed the cartoons, had not broken the law.

The need for Arab Nationalism in Europe
Opinion - Opinion
Tuesday, 04 August 2009
karimhassoun.jpgLast days and weeks I have been involved in some debates with friends and acqaintances about the importance of Arab Nationalism, hand in hand with a Socialist project, for the liberation of our Arab homeland but also as an ideology and project for the average Arab citizen living in Europe.
The importance of Arab Nationalism and socialism (more specific Nasserism named after Gamal Abdel Nasser) as a liberation project is clear and increasing in the Arab homeland. What we mean is that the concept of Arab Nationalism is nowadays much broader and it incorporates today streams and parties that endorse the Arab identity and aim at Arab unity. Hamas, Hizb’Allah and the Muslim Brotherhood are today members of the Arab National Congress, while this congress was formed in 1990 by Arab Nationalist thinkers and politicians. Nationalism as an ideology for liberation and socialism as a project for society is the only way for any society to guarantee civil liberties and equality for all of it's citizens.

Paris.

trnasp_ologobluetint.gifThousands of books drenched in cooking oil – that is the latest exploit of the Zionist fanatics who regularly attack property and people in Paris and get away with it.

In the early afternoon of Friday, July 3, five men, mostly masked, stormed into the “Resistances” bookstore located in a quiet residential neighborhood of the 17th arrondissement in northwest Paris. To the startled women working in the shop, as well as two customers, they announcing that they were from the Jewish Defense League and began ripping books off shelves and tables, dousing them heavily with cooking oil, and then smashing four computers before leaving rapidly in a waiting vehicle.
